Is work coming out the other end?
Throughput
Tasks completed per period. The plainest read on whether output is steady.
Cycle time
Start to done. Measures your process — how long work takes once somebody actually picks it up.
Lead time
Created to done. Includes the six weeks it sat in the backlog, which is why it is the number stakeholders feel.
Velocity
Completed effort per sprint. The only honest input to how much to commit to next time.
Burndown
Remaining work against time. A flat start usually means work was begun in parallel rather than finished in sequence.
Aging
How long open work has been open. This is where the things everybody forgot turn up.

Distribution
Breakdown by status, assignee, type or priority. The fastest way to spot a pile-up in one column or on one person.
Time logged
Recorded time aggregated by person, project or period — for billing, or for finding out where the fortnight went.
Workload
Who is holding what, across projects. Balance before the sprint starts rather than explaining afterwards.
Questions people ask
- What's the difference between cycle time and lead time?
- Lead time starts when the task was created; cycle time starts when work began. A team with good cycle time and bad lead time has a backlog problem, not a delivery problem — and speeding up the team will not fix it.
- Is throughput the same as velocity?
- No. Throughput counts tasks, velocity counts estimated effort. A week of six trivial tasks and a week of one large one show identical throughput and very different velocity.
- Why do two people see different numbers?
- A workspace-scoped report covers the projects that person is a member of. Two people in different projects legitimately see different totals.
- Can we get these into our BI tool?
- Yes — every report exports to CSV, and the reports API returns the same aggregates on demand. Read them rather than re-deriving the metrics yourself.
